Another successful show for Sutton Bridge Players!

Sutton Bridge Players, a local community theatre group based in Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire, have successfully performed their second annual pantomime of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, written by Nigel Holmes and directed by Group Member Fiona Milnes.

The performance had three sold out shows, and from a combination of a raffle and further donations, has generously gifted £500, to Westmere Community Primary School, the theatre group’s home base.

The performance received positive reactions from attendees, who commented on the witty humour of the comical duo Ugg and Lee played by Holly and Hayley Murphy, and the dramatic and sometimes downright scariness of the Wicked Witch of the West played by Cass Wheatley. Topped off by Lottie Ryan playing the angelic and loveable Dorothy.

The performance had brilliant off-stage success too, with a range of fantastic costumes, lights and sounds.

Ren Shilcock, Chair of Sutton Bridge Players said:

Within our brilliant group we’ve got an eclectic mix of talents, which all contribute to making this performance a true community effort.’

For some of our group, this was their first time on stage, and they did absolutely brilliantly.  For some of our tech crew, too, this was their first production with Sutton Bridge Players, whilst others have returned for their second and third years with us. Every single person involved has done us proud. I want to thank everyone for their dedication, hard work and everything in between. Every member of the Group has helped bring our vision and interpretation of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz to life, and we couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you also to our audiences who came to see us –  we can’t wait for our next shows and the chance to perform for you again’.

Here are just some of our reviews from the shows:
